*Apparently there is a bug running Windows 7 (RTM/7600 x64Bit) sidebar gadgets that use Flash (SWF) so not working for me ATM.
*Widget planned modifications/updates:
- Facebook banner/badge (Flash timer) done see above.
- Adding Twitter functionality to the widget – no time to do this ATM so probably won’t happen.
- News feed real-time news marquee with confirmed updates/new from infinity ward – might still add this or either the Twitter live feeds.

Hey guys, I personally am a console gamer but i do see the issue here with the epic struggle between Activision and dedi servers. Which is why i have invited all my friends to sign the petition (which btw talk all the crap you want about online petitions but IW has stated on many occasions that if enough people want something, they will get it). Anyways there is NO comparison between the abilities of a PC and the abilities of a console. Consoles are completely the same in every way. This is designed so each player will have an equal chance at success. PC is a whole different story. There are literally millions of combinations of upgrades that can be tailored to each player’s preferences and this is part of the PC online experience. Which in many player’s opinion intensifies the gameplay ten-fold. IMO a player can have just as intense of a game on 360 or ps3. My point here is that they have always been two different experiences and gamers enjoy it this way. If you enjoy PC, play PC. If you enjoy 360, play 360. Instead of embracing the differences, PC gamers and Console gamers continue to wage an epic war when both should realize the strengths of the other and enjoy their system. I know that was a very random paragraph but my point is Infinity ward is not accepting the PC for what it is (what is it you may ask? It is NOT A CONSOLE) yet IW insists on turning the PC into a console. This will prove to be a VERY poor decision if they do not overturn it. What a rant. GREAT countdown time. (i’m a nerd i check it every night and get excited because the number seems to have gone down one day =) lol) Can i get a hell yeah only 12 days left from my PC and Console gamers alike!?! I have had gamed with both pc and console… cod 4 plays much better on pc than xbox with more maps available and new mods like paintball that add a little extra fun to the game. and thats all for free too. i Had to pay 800 microshite points for 4 maps freely available online. But times are hard and work/family commitments means at this point in time i cannot afford to upgrade my pc so until i can its xbox all the way. theres a downside to both platforms there guys… but who really cares?? i like the cod games and will play them on whatever i can. because after all its all about the game.

Another thing I would like to add to this Dedicated Server debate is that I was planning on buying this game twice over: Once on my PS3 (so that I could enjoy it with friends when they come over, and also play online with them because they do not own gaming PC’s) and on the PC because that is my personal preference. Firstly, I’ve never been a fan of this whole “matchmaking” business. I prefer to just jump into an active server and play, it’s simpler. Plus, you can see what map and game mode the server is running and find the game YOU want to play.
Another reason I preferred the original Modern Warfare on the PC is that the servers were customizable. Going into a 32 man Free for All was more intense than the 8 player version on the console. Also, the servers didn’t have to abide by a set score limit. I often went into the servers that had half-hour long games with no score limit, it sort of took away the stress of competing with everyone, egos weren’t an issue, and you could just relax and play the game.
Without dedicated servers, none of this is possible and that’s a big thing because PC gamers are used to this. Most, if not all online FPS’s on the PC work along these lines and its what we consider an advantage to playing on a PC.
However, one of the biggest things you are cutting is the communities. When a community or clan has its own server, that community becomes closer. Being able to go into a familiar server and play with familiar people makes the experience that much more engaging, and generally more fun.
If you console people want to help our cause, then go right ahead, but don’t antagonize it just because you think it’s pointless. We care about keeping dedicated servers, because that’s the way PC gaming should be.

What’s with the flame war? Also, for everyone bitching, how much of this was IW’s design team making decisions, and how much was this Activision’s fault? We don’t really know, except that Treyarch is currently Activisions favorite studio and anything that might take away from that Activision steps on. Just saying, there’s no way to know who’s behind this stuff.

No Dedi servers for CODMW2 is the worst idea and will inturn ruin the game for the PC gamers, Argue all you want but playing on a PC vs Console is not even close, ps3 nor xbox could make a system that comes closse to my PC in anyway, I also know theres alot of us PC gamers out there that feel the sameway, with that being said I will be getting the game just incase those morons change their minds and decide to put in Dedi servers.

The countdown I made by myself/for myself to use – and if other users PC or Console wanted to use can do so by all means do.. @SmallTime – thanks for posting link man, yes indeed what a BS response by Activision very week, totally ignoring their customers because we are the “minority”. If IWNet is so grand why don’t they release a video showing off how it works exactly or release a beta/Demo before the game releases – cos they know they are in the wrong/they only release this BS about IWNet right towards the end of the release knowing that PC users will hate the idea. What Activision needs to realize is PC games industry has has the biggest selling title (which they bought) its called World of Warcraft out sells any/all Console games ever made! with a user base of over 15 million PC Gamers a month (I am one of them and most of the gamers I know who play FPS also play it).
Activision makes me sick. All they want is money which is fare enough I will pay but they way they are going about it is wrong. They want to control both PC & Console gamers like they have already done so on COD5:WAW with the map packs (they saw money can be made through this selling over 25-30 million on both map1/2/3) but couldn’t control the PC users so gave it away free, what I don’t understand is there is just about as much piracy going on on console as PC’s too, go look on ISOhunt or other torrent sites you’ll see allot of XBOX pirate games up for download, what they need to realize is if people don’t want to pay they will find a way not to, instead of making games shitter & removing basic features the game depends on in the sake of piracy why don’t they get of their asses and develop a real proper anti-cheat system and solution as well as a proper Direct-Download redistribution system instead of fucking up a game that was perfectly fine to start with.
All I can say is yes PC gamers will buy they game, maybe not on release but we will cave in. But I sure as hell wont be playing multiplayer that’s for sure, soon as BF:Bad Company 2 comes out I think most PC Gamers will shift over to that game.

Well it’s almost here. Soon enough I will be picking up my PS3 pre-order and begin to revel in the awesomeness that is Modern Warfare 2. However, depending on the circumstances, I will likely not be buying it for the PC. Without the extras that dedicated servers provide, it would essentially be dropping another $60 to use a keyboard and mouse. While it is my preferred control scheme (sorry controller fans but face it, a keyboard and mouse gives you WAY more precision and control in a FPS)that isn’t enough to warrant a PC buy in addition to my PS3 purchase.
For all those PC people that maybe don’t own a console or for whatever reason refuse to buy it for the console, I wish you all luck in your struggle for dedicated servers.
As for all those console junkies that keep coming on here to tell us to “stop whining” I would like to point out that in essence it’s protesting, and a lot of things in history were changed thanks to protesting. This may not be as important, and it doesn’t matter to you at all if you run with a console, but this is our protest and you have no right to come in here and start antagonizing us, especially when it is doing no harm to you.

I bought my first console fps think it would be like the dedicated servers, I didn’t know what the hell matchmaking was, and I have to admit, I spend more time trying to find a game i like on a map I like than I do actually playing. IT SUCKS!

Well they already lost my second purchase on the PC. You don’t need to boycott the game as a whole really, when they simply see a significant decrease in the PC sales division I’m sure they will realize that they made a mistake. After all, it’s about making as much money as possible, and if they’re intelligent enough to realize that if they just include dedicated servers, PC sales will go up then I’m sure they will get around to it.
Well I can now say I told you so. It was released by I.W. that they are now looking at how to implement pay to play. Congratulations you freaking asshole console players who thought it was only going to be the PC players who were going to get shafted. To those console players who were mature enough to see that this was bad all around and helped in the petition, thank you but it just wasnt enough.
